As the boat owner and holder of the Seanapps account linked to it, you are required to perform a TRANSFER to the new owner at the time of sale.
Why is it important to transfer the connected Seanapps account to the new owner?
Because the Seanapps owner account allows the remote monitoring of the boat, including its GPS location. Without transferring the Seanapps account to the new owner, you would continue to remotely access your former boat in violation of the new owner's right to privacy.
When should I transfer my Seanapps owner account?
As soon as the sale is certain and final, you should transfer your owner account to the buyer. The transfer must take place before the buyer begins to use the connected boat.
How do I transfer my owner account?
There are 2 methods:
The transfer initiated by you:
Once logged in to the app as the owner:
- In the header of the app, click on the Boat icon
- Under your Boat profile, you will find a button Transfer boat ownership
- In the pop-up menu that appears, enter the email address of the new owner
- Before confirming, choose whether you want to transfer the boat's history or not
- Once your choice is made, click the Transfer button
The new owner will receive an email inviting them to create their Seanapps account to regain access to their boat.
Note: Even if the new owner does not complete this step, you will lose access to your former boat. Initiating the transfer is therefore sufficient to comply with privacy regulations.
The transfer initiated by the new owner:
- If you are the new owner and have never had a Seanapps account before:
- Download the Seanapps app
- Create your Seanapps account
- After creating your user account, you will be invited to Associate a boat. Click this button.
- On the next screen, you can search for your boat using its HIN or by entering the email address of the previous owner.
> A list of boats matching your search will appear. - Select the boat for which you are requesting the owner account and click Associate this boat
> A message indicating that this boat is linked to another Seanapps account will appear. - Click Request transfer
> An email and notification will be sent to the owner account associated with the boat.
What if the transfer does not succeed?
If the Seanapps account transfer does not succeed, you can always contact the professional in charge of the boat's monitoring or contact the Seanapps Support team at contact@seanapps.fr
In this context, you will very likely need to provide proof of identity and proof of ownership so that we can enforce the transfer.
